The brief

Two writers, a lot of books and a flat that had been painted white by every landlord since 1990. They wanted colour, but not a colour scheme.

Finished room
A window seat with linen cushions and an open book in soft daylight
A dining room with dark green walls, a round table and glass doors to the garden
A bright dining room with a wooden table, bentwood chairs and tall windows

Our approach

One green, mixed for this flat, on walls, skirting and ceiling so the rooms feel wrapped rather than painted. Walnut where hands touch, linen where light comes in.

The result

Six months from first visit to keys back. The window seats became the reading spots, and the dining room now doubles as the office.
